College of Social Sciences

The College of Social Sciences brings together over 429 academics (including 83 professors) and almost 200 administrative staff across a range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields.

The College's mission is 'to generate new knowledge about society, and to transform this in ways that improve well-being.'

The College is a research-led institution incorporating four College research centres, four Schools and some 20 school research centres. This provides a focus for advanced knowledge generation, and its transformation into new policies and practices interactively with citizens and organisations in the UK and internationally.

The College provides:

Department of Sociology review
Following a review of the current Department of Sociology the University is now undertaking consultation on the future direction of the Department, learn more about the proposals and other options.
